Some Schools

When interviewing and talking with schools, I amazed at the various programs of many of the schools. There are the usualy language, behavior and manners types of programs. The re were the ones that were avalibe in the 80s: sex ed, some tolerance and more.

Today, one school even had a drug rehab program on campus. Of course it was out patient. But alas it served the needs of the community. What more can we ask of school?

Have a good day.

Choices

I have found myself in the position of needing to make some choices. I am choosing materials for the next school year. I am working on a budget and am in real need of financial consolidation software to help the budgets.

Maybe in some way I can consolidate the money and get more and more money. When making choices I have to make dual purchases for each grade. This means a high and low reader for all grades.

The Move

Moving is difficult because of all the choice that have to be made. We came into a little bit of money and want to purchase new furniture.

So she wants a new dining room table, I want a poker tables.
She wants a new couch, well i want to keep the ones we have. Last thing I want is a a new couch that i am not allowed to sit on.

Personally i think the move was complicated by this money. Could have been so easy, just move everything.

Summer Fun

one of the great things about teaching, despite objections to the contrary from teachers, is June, July, and August.

One of the things I found amazing how many teachers are into Callaway golf and all the work that is placed in.

Others enjoy camping . . . and many go camping quite often. the best part is that you can go camping Monday on leave on Thursday. This made it nice to avoid people.

Education Goals and IEPs

One problem that I have heard about in education is from a friend who has a child on an IEP (Individualized Educational Plan). Well this child has been on one for years. The IEP deals only with behavior and without solid educational goals.

So this child has been left behind in the fourth grade and while the special ed is more concerned with home theater seating then a child, this one has been left behind and is now entering into the 8th grade reading at a 4th grade level.

No wonder many in the education system wonder why it is broken.

Crazy Stuff

I am sure there are many crazy things out there. As an example, one of my wife's relatives who is into plasma cutting is getting a dog.

This is not an ordinary mutt. First it is a mixed breed and not a pure bred. She is paying a small mint for this dog. She had to go thorugh a home study. She had to prove she took of her prior dog.

When she was explaining all she went through . . . lets say to adopt a kids did not take as much. She shmoozed saying how much she donates money to do dog shelters.

Oi this is such a pain.

Meetings

I have always wondered about drug rehab and what goes on there.

I was able to recently speak to a person about thier experiance. Seems like many try to do a good job. This person managed to be drug free for several years so far without falling off the wagon.

For her I am glad it has worked well.
