The Future of Reading
While technology is the future in the classroom and projection televisions seem to be everywhere . . . the book has been lacking.
What is odd is that the textbook manufactures have been everything they can to use the Internet. There are quizzes online. Recently I received a complete copy of a textbook in PDF format. Of course this is rather not usable. The amount of processing power to see all the graphics is high.
I have been using my PALM devices for years to read books and I love it. Of course I read a lot of classics. Personally, I really like the idea. Now Amazon is coming out with a device called, Kindle.
The promise of Kindle is that we can buy book cheaply online through a wifi connection. There are ideas of users helping with a book, which I think are rather bad.
I am still not sure I would want to DL a book for $10. I would hit the $5 mark rather quickly. The $10 seems a little high. I also wonder . . . how will this work for Libraries or poor people. Are we going to condemn future generations of the poor to not reading or reading antiquated books.
OR the big question for this blog. How will this tech effect education
Well I hope we come up with something that is not to expensive.
