Say No to McCain

I have been following the real estate issues really closely as well as the elelction. Of course as I have written elsewhere, I am a conservative, economic, defense, and social type of conservative. And hearing all the stuff John McCain wants to do and has done, as I have followed his broo-ha-ha for many years: I have reached a conclusion.

I can't vote for McCain.

I mean I really cannot, I would rather have Hill-Bill in office (again) then have McCain.

He wants to spend to much money and have politics as usual.

Treadmill

I really like where I teach, even though it is hard. In other places I have taught, I always thought it was a giant treadmill we were on. Here, at APA in Plankinton, I really enjoy my work and can really see where I am making a serious change in the lives of students.

If you have any questions about APA please email me. And there are always openings for direct care staff people. OF course you need to be over 21 to work here.

Well have a happy day . . . and make the world better one student at a time.

Making Your Business

I was asked to look at logos and design a logo. Now, let's be honest shall we. I still have contiuning therapy from the 80s and 90s doing things like this. If you are not old enough let me tell you about the process:

First, go to your local print shop or copy shop.
Second go through stacks and stacks of logos.
Third, go through more stacks of logos, the best ones cost more money.
Fourth, go through stacks of fonts. Of course each font is different and some require more money.
Fourth, argue on design with the owner of the shop.
Fifth, pay way to much.
Sixth, wait weeks for the finished product.
Seventh, walk out hours upon hours later still frustrated.
Eighth, OMG find something for the headache ASAP!

Today . . . what a differance the internet makes. Today, you can start your company branding today with just a few clicks. I think it is about 8 clicks at the low end.

So how does the process compare:
First, find your logo design that is presorted and easy to find.
Second, type in your information.
Third, enter in a little more info and set it up the way you want it.
Fourth, pay and wait a few days for the finished product to show up.
Fifth, less then 10 minutes later, go to something else to do: read a book, play with your kids or start making money on your business.

To say that getting your own logo design would be an understatement. The process is simple, refined, well done website, and easy easy easy to do.

The best part is that you will know what your logo and business cards look like without all the problems and headaches. This is a great service!

A Hard Look

One of the aides had a Rolex watch and then had it taken by one of the students.

This of course led to a large number of searches of the students. Of course the students were not very happy with the searches. However, since I work at a residential facility . . . we can search.

Have a good day

Looking across the room

As I mentioned elsewhere, I have some problems with wrap up time. I am really good on setting up and tieing in from the day before. I really need to keep a better track with my raymond weil watches that I have.

I need to always look at the clock and follow along. I am really working hard on following my plan better. Have a happy day and follow the clock.

Can you stay warm.

I would like to go on a one of the many cruises that are avalible.

I have to confess that living in South Dakota it is quite cold. I was watching the football game in Green Bay, WI this weekend, there it was -4 with a -24 windchill. Never mind that is what it is here with an even worse windchill. Enough to freeze your bum off.

Of course going on a cruise is hard for a teacher.

I hoop you have a good day.

Going Places

One of my friends at the public school is going to go on the senior trip. There is talk of an overseas trip and they are wondering about travel health insurance for the kids.

The odd part is that this may kill the trip. If that is the case I feel bad for the kids. Of course if they did not have such high expectations then it would be easier. If they went to somewhere domestic then the insurance would not be an issue.

Have a happy day.

The Differance

As a teacher I have moved several times. I have always had some serious discount furniture in my house. Now I am looking to upgrade. I have to say . . . grrrr . . . the non-discount is way to much on my poor teacher salary.

So why bother teaching you say. Because every single day, I really truly make a difference. In many ways we are one teacher away from the country going down the tubes. Tragincally the churches have ceded their position to the government, which is not good, but a reality.

Today is the first day.

The Hi Tech Classroom

One of the add things about teaching is the use of tech and how people think that tech is the end all and be all of teaching. If this was the case we would play movies and install home theater seating in every classroom.

Tech is useful depending on how you use it.

If you, as a teacher, use one thing and use it poorly, it will never work.

To not get strung into using lots of tech. Powerpoints usually have to much animation and to much wasted time. Remember to KISS when it comes to tech. Keep it simple stoopid.

Reality of the Wall of Law and Order

Funny thing watching the new Law and Order, now that Aurthur Branch is gone. McCoy had a great line: This is a working office not a engraved plaques and trophey office.

I am sure now that many teachers are like that. In a way we should. When subbing I noticed many teachers had degrees posted. I think we should. Reminds people that we are not idiots . . . no matter how we are portratyed in tv and movies.

Have a good day.

Together

There are many

While giving away over two million car angel has tried to make the world a litle better for teens and and kids. We often think that teaching is the only way to make the world better place.

However, there are a variety of things that we can do and work together. To accompish these goals they use either car donations or boat donation

You can check them out at http://youtube.com/user/boatangel

I hope that you have a really good day. Remember to have fun teaching.

A New Wheel

Sometimes teaching is like using Chrysler 300 accessory on a Yugo.

Even the best of all methods and lesson plans fails. When this happens . . . what is next?

It is try and and try again. Changing your praxis on a regular basis helps things be fresh and new. Trying new things makes old things work even better. And no matter what, you do not have to reinvinte the wheel.

Have a happy day.
