Students and Teachers

One of the things that I find odd is the number of students using differing kinds of appetite suppressant. With all the comments of kids being overweight, my experiance is that most are wanting to lose and lose even more. Now it is the teachers (including myself) who need to lose the pounds and shed them like a snake skin.

I am hoping that I will lose some more pounds over the next few months. I am really trying.

Posters

Okay so in my room I have several posters that I have brought in. These are various posters that do cost money and may be difficult to replace. The one exception is of course my Wal Mart Indiana Jones which I only sort of care about.

Well this means I have to spend extra money to get frames for these posters. At least that way the will hopefully not be destroyed.

A Real PRoblem

I went on vacation for week and left my classroom in the hands of 3 adults over the age of 21.

Now I do expect some responsibility on the behalf of adults. I came back and my classroom was completely trashed. This makes me rather upset. It took over an hour to clean the room and have it ready for students.

This is of course one of the problems with teaching true year round school.

Losing Weight In Golfing

As I me mentioned before I have been losing weight. I have used a combotion of many things including nuphedra and other helps. I really have been working and playing my newest favorite sport, disc golf.

Of course I went out today at about 9:30 and did nine holes (well baskets) and did rather well even in the dark. The real problem came in at the last two holes where the darkness was hitting hard and I had to hit putts.

Well in any case, it is nice to go out and play.

Teacher and Moving

This time of year brings out many items for teachers. Teachers sometime move and therefore they need to have cross country moving. The way that teacher and the teacher game and employment goes, sometimes teachers have to move.

There are many teaching jobs, however sometimes teachers will have to move a long distance to have a job. There are many teachers who are leaving California for parts unknown so watch out, teaching jobs are going to be in high competition this year. I am several lists for the Midwest and there are fewer jobs this year then last.

Going Down Dude

Now that school is over and summer is here there are things we have to consider. We need to buy diet pill so we can take off what I like to call school fat.

Let's be real, it is very easy to get lazy and not have the right exercise or diet. Many teachers get some weight gain over the school year. I have lost about 30 pounds over the past several weeks. So what I can tell you is that losing weight is a good thing and can be easily done.

Natural consequences

I had a teacher that I work with bring in her wholesale handbags. A student jumped into her purse when she was not looking. Of course that is not a good thing. The student ended up receiving a consequence. But is that good enough? I think some serious restitution is really needed.

I am a big believer in natural consequences. This student managed to avoid them. All I have to say is grrrrr.

Natural consequences are good for the student. Of course we cannot hop in and do things.
