Getting There Part 2

What happens when you have one car and you need a car parts first thing in the AM. I needed a fuse. Of course the bad news was they did not open till 30 minutes after I was supposed to be at work.

I mean for real. It really was a bummer. I had to do it quickly and fast.

I replaced and made it to work only a little bit late for work.

Well have a most happy day.

Getting There

Since I have started to teach I need some serious fat burners. I know that I have complained about this before. However, it is really hard to get energy to get really into burning fat.

I mean that I do want to lose weight. I am amazed. I wish I was closer to work so I could bike to work.

Well I hope that you have a most happy day.

Oil and Teaching

I decided to do some figuring on the issue of oil and drilling in the United States. We send about $700 Billion overseas. Now if we drilled in the United States and that $700B was then eventually all spent in the US. This number would be evetually be taxed by states in the form of sales tax.

The amount taxed would be enough for every state to hire 35,000 new teachers. Or if they really wanted, every teacher could be given a gold bangle as a nice bonus.

Have a happy day.

Buying!

One of the good parts of news that there is for teachers, is the mortgage lenders still want teachers.

When you are looking at buying a home, check out many of the states have programs for teachers. Many of the banks and companies have programs for teachers.

OF course with prices falling, it may be the right to buy houses for teachers.

Well i hope that you have a most happy day.

Projects

One of the fun things about teaching summer school is the differing projects one can do. This assumes that you are not doing the credit catchup.

As an example when learning about ancienct England and Ireland we made some Celtic jewelry for the students. What an awesome project. The students were so thrilled.

Reading on

One of the great things about living now is the new way of textbooks. I really do not like the paper versions. I love the e-versions.

I mean . . . i can carry and read when I have time . I do not have to be weighed down by the all the pages and covers. Instead they are in my PALM or in my iPod Touch.

I love reading on my iPod Touch.

Have a happy day

Walking Down Safely

I was talking with some of my friends who are in tough places for teaching. One commented on having some tactical gear so as to be safe in schools. THe one advantage that I do have is that no person is going to shot while here.

I know one person said they need to have an escort to go to the bathroom. As there were more than one teacher who tripped down the stairs.

Have a most happy day.

Down Goes A Wall

Sometimes when I teach I feel like i am on an elliptical treadmill device. I keep wanting to move but stay in one place. There is always the up again down again with students.

I mean for real, the treadmill seems never ending. Yet, there are days I think it really moves. The students click. The best way to avoid discouragment is to look at the long term progress.

Wow, the differance.

Tech in Room

I use videos often enough that I would love a TV wall mount with a big old Plasma TV on it.

I mean it would be nice then the old 25 inch TV. Not to mention, i need some better speakers so students can hear through out the room. I mean sometimes they can not really hear well.

Well have a most happy day.

Vacation Critters

We had vacation last week. The science teacher has all of his classroom pets to take care of out. All out of his own money. SO he bought some pet supplements for the animals.

I guess he did not trust the people to come in and help. He still came in to check on all the little critters.

Amazing how the kids react to the critters.
