New Stuff for the room

Well I have good news for my room!!! I am getting new computers and new computer desks in my room. I am really happy that this is going to happen. I have the new Wikipedia DVD and that are ready for use within the classroom.

The new Wikipeida DVD is really cool. I will have to talk about it at a future point.

Getting Ready Fir Christmas

I am glad that Thanksgiving has come and gone. Now we can hit Leptovox and start looking good for Christmas time.

I know the odds are not good for everything to work right. However, I want to lose weight like crazy. I mean I am just tired of being overweight.

I mean in this way we can still look good and be ready to visit family. I always hate when the family (in-laws) are so durn obbsessed about weight.

Getting the message across

Many schools are adding in digital signage to the schools for a scrolling announcements. I really like how these work as I have never been a fan of the announcements screaming over the speaker system.

THere was one place I subbed at a number of years ago where it so loud I would take in ear plugs. I complained about it but alas, to no avail.

TV Events and Lessons

I like the idea of adding events and TV that makes a point. OF course I would never show
the new 24 thing in the classroom. However, it seems to be trying to make a point.

In any case I cannot wait for 24 to be on TV tonight so I can watch it. I was frustrated with 24 being gone last year

Following Up On Civics

There was a Zogby poll. I am really surprised from the results of this poll.

Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions

57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)

71.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)

82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)

88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)

56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).

And yet.....

Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes

Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter

And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her "house," even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!

Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.

Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we "gave" one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey)

Civics Quiz

While I was looking for snowmobile parts online I was given a civics quiz.

The sad part is that most of the people fail this quiz. Even worse than that, is that our elected officials failed even worse.

While some of the questions are hard, it gives an idea of how well you know America and her history. America is a great country, know the history and love it.

Going Down

While I have been looking forward to losing some more weight I am still wanting to use some of the best diet pills that I can find.

Now we have to admit that I am trying to lose weight fast and quick.

I am hoping that I can lose a few more pounds by THursday before the family gets here. So if you need a few extra pounds let me know I can share some with you.

conference fun in Vegas

After watching CSI Las Vegas and seeing all the las vegas hotels makes me want to go spend some time in Las Vegas.

I am looking for a conferance in Vegas, it would be a ton o' fun to spend some time in Vegas doing teaching in the AM and then fun all afternoon Of course my only problem is that I would spend time awake at night playing. Which would be exactly why they do not have clocks on the gaming floor.

Google Maps

Google has started a really cool program for educators. You can earn lots of free stuff from Google for using Google maps and drawing up lessons.

While we can have some with Harley parts, this at least helps the classroom.

The lesson has to show how well you can use technology within the classroom with Google maps. I am a big fan of trying this. I am wondering what we really have to do to complete this.

Textbooks and hearing

One of the great things about having free audio books in the classroom is that students who have problems reading can follow along with the reading.

I have had great success in students following along with books while reading.

One of the nice things is that my textbooks are available for free in MP3 format

you are voting for Obama. In that case vote day is Thursday.

This long two year process is coming to an end.

I am holding a mini/mock election here at my school. I am breaking it up into popular vote and electoral vote by class.

Taxing

We all need to learn that Obama tax scheme will not work! Why? Good question. Since we cannot soak the rich as money will be hidden and underreported, it does not pay to 'soak the rich'. I am not one of them by the way.

Tax revenues have stated static at 19.5% of the GDP regardless of the tax rate. So perhaps we need to again cut taxes.

Room Technology

Teaching is always hard. One of the things that I would like is away for the TV to be more hidden. I have often asked for flat screen TV. Now I am trying for a pop up tv.

I mean anything is better than the 24 inch tv i have in the classroom. I am a rather high tech kind of person. I like my gadegts and such. Most of the videos I show are on the ipod. Makes life so much easier.

Getting Together

This is the time of year when teachers are hitting the slim quick to lose weight. Of course with Christmas and family get togethers everyone wants to look their best.

And of course despite what you think, teachers do want to look good.

Student Teaching Problmes

The funny thing about learning to teach I still think is student teaching. Especially if you are like a Hydroxycut hardcore person for a supervisor.

People talk about their clinical supervisors as if they are the greatest person in the world. I thought my was satan. I also had three years of teaching experinace which does not help. I already had all the bad habits of teachers. And here they wanted me to be perfect.
