Reset

Resetting a computer, as in formatting the hard drive and reinstalling a the operting system, is a pain in the neck. Sometimes it seems that it is like having a gold anklet on a fake leg. Not to sure it does what we think that it does.

I spent hours upon hours reinstalling the applications and making sure the preferances throughout the various programs and applications. It is a pain.

Creative Teahers

I was dealing with one of the teachers . . . and she is like the fabric queen. She pulls out some of the Duralee fabrics and makes some of the most fantastic stuff.

I always feel so odd when I get around these super creative teachers who are just fantastic. I mean I am so clumsy with the sissocrs and cloth. I mean it is ugly . . . really ugly.

Randomness

A random thought happened to me today. I was looking though some of my old pictures. Now while I was missing my old golf shoes, I thought of something . . .

What if we did not have NCLB and kids were allowed to drop out?

When I was in HS the students who would cause the bulk of the problems and the bulk of the headaches would do one of two things. They would drop out at 16 (or so) or they would go to an alternative school. Or if they had study skills, a GED.

these cannot be "left behind" and have to increase. They are for the most part the cause of the majority of problems. They are the causes for the most headaches. The most classroom problems.

Think of this. We are treating kids like adults when they make bad (and stoopid) choices. Let them make this choice. Allow this who would rather not be burger flippers for life to stay and not be subject to the trouble makers. Now I am not saying kids are to be dumped. Allow the students to leave school after a legal release has been signed.

AND AND AND do not punish the schools or the teachers. It would actually provide a better enviroment for all.

Cover Over

One of the problems that a friend told me about at his school was the damgae that occurs in the teacher parking lot. My friend got a car cover to protect his car. Seems like it has worked to only a small problem.

He is going through the various ways of trying to protect his car. They are setting up a huge fence and more security.

In any case I am glad that I do not work there.

Signature

I have just finished dealing with mortgage lenders on buying my house. Talk about needing to pay attention. When looking at loans you really need someone who you trust and who will do a good job for you.

Make sure you understand what you are doing as your signature is binding.

OF course as rules get tighter you may find yourself in more need.

Warmth

Some of the Condo Hotels seem really nice. Of course it would be really nice if they offered something specific for teachers. Something that we can bolt at 3 on friday and fly back late on Sunday.


You know somewhere warm that would make use all happy and warm. So there can be no students, no books, no papers and no grades. That would be so nice

Fractions

Getting students to get some fractional ownership on fractions is quite the hard work.

I was doing a problem on the board and most of the students had no clue how to solve a fractions problem. I was rather amazed as fractions are almost second nature. Of course many of the students, in high school, need to have multiplication tables to solve simple math problems.

Odd things in WV

If the Phase I environmental was not shown in WV I am not sure what does.

I have been saying it is time for a third party. This is it. If McCain actually can win the nomination, I do not think he can win even against the Hill-Bill.

Why . . . well when Ann Coulter says that the Hill-Bill is more conservative then McCain I have to question if it can even happen.

I see that someone is going to do well for a third party.
